Rapala RipStop®: The Ultimate Jerkbait Evolution

The Rapala RipStop® features a unique design that allows it to rip through the water with a hard-hitting, flashing action and then stop on a dime. Unlike traditional jerkbaits that glide to a halt, the RipStop uses a specialized "rear boot" tail design to create a hard, abrupt stop that mimics a dying baitfish perfectly.

This lure is a multi-species finisher, equally effective for Bass, Walleye, Trout, and Perch. Its ability to transition from high-energy motion to a dead stop makes it one of the best "trigger" baits in the Rapala lineup.

Why the RipStop Stands Out

  • Hard-Stopping Tail Design: The rear "boot" creates a shimmy before coming to a sudden, immediate halt.

  • Dual-Action Versatility: Can be fished as a classic jerkbait, a subtle twitch bait, or even on a straight retrieve.

  • High-Flash Finish: Designed with a scale-patterned body that reflects light even during the pause.

  • Fast-Starting: Begins its swimming action the second the handle turns, maximizing every inch of the cast.

  • Suspend-and-Rise: Features a slow-rising buoyancy that keeps it in the strike zone during the pause.

🎣 Pro Tip: The "Snap-Stop"

The magic of the RipStop happens on the pause. Instead of a soft twitch, use a sharp, downward snap of your rod tip and then immediately move the rod tip back toward the lure to create slack line. This allows the "boot" tail to catch the water and stop the lure instantly. For neutral or cold-water fish, extend your pause to 3–5 seconds; the subtle, slow rise of the body is often when the strike occurs.
