Dominate the Finesse Game with the Z-Man TRD CrawZ™

When the bite gets tough, the Z-Man TRD CrawZ™ is the ultimate solution for downsizing without sacrificing action. Designed specifically for the Ned Rig, this compact 2.5-inch powerhouse is a "match-the-hatch" masterpiece. Its small profile perfectly mimics the tiny crawfish that bass, walleye, and trout forage on daily, making it a must-have for high-pressure waters and cold-front conditions.

Best Ways to Rig the TRD CrawZ™

Thanks to Z-Man’s proprietary ElaZtech® material, this bait is naturally buoyant and incredibly durable, allowing for rigging options that standard plastics can’t handle:

  • The Ned Rig: This is the gold standard. Because the claws are buoyant, the TRD CrawZ™ stands straight up on the bottom in a "defensive" posture every time you stop your retrieve, rather than laying flat in the mud.

  • The Finesse Jig Trailer: Slide it onto a small finesse jig to add a realistic craw profile. Unlike traditional trailers that sink, the CrawZ™ claws float upward, keeping the jig visible and active even at rest.

  • The Micro-Texas Rig: Use a small offset hook and a light bullet weight to crawl through rock piles and gravel. The ElaZtech® material is nearly indestructible, meaning one bait can last through dozens of fish without tearing on the hook.

  • The Drop Shot: Rig it nose-down on a drop shot. The floating claws will wave naturally in the current, mimicking a crawfish swimming off the bottom—a look most pressured fish haven't seen before.

Pro Strategies for Maximum Action

  • The "Dead Stick" Method: When the water is cold or the fish are sluggish, move the bait 6 inches and then let it sit for up to 10 seconds. The buoyant claws will continue to dance and quiver on their own, tempting "lookers" into biting.

  • The Bottom Hop: Use short, quick rod snaps to make the CrawZ™ "jump" off the bottom. This mimics the fleeing burst of a real crawfish. The landing—where the claws immediately float back up—is usually when the strike occurs.

  • The Drag-and-Shake: Keep your rod tip low and slowly drag the bait across the bottom while adding subtle shakes. This stirs up silt and mimics a scavenging crawfish, creating a visual and vibration trail for predators to follow.
