Berkley Lightning Rod® Casting Rods
A household name for over 30 years, the Berkley Lightning Rod® remains the gold standard for performance and value. Built on a foundation of 24-Ton Multi-Modulus Graphite, these rods are engineered to be lightweight and fast-reflecting, delivering the "lightning-fast" hooksets that earned them their legendary reputation.
High-Value Performance Features
-
24-Ton Multi-Modulus Graphite: A balanced carbon construction that provides a crisp, responsive feel while maintaining the strength to haul in big fish.
-
Stainless Steel Guides with Chromium Inserts: These specialized inserts are designed for extreme durability and reduced friction, making them perfect for both monofilament and braided lines.
-
Double-Locking Reel Seat: Ensures a rock-solid connection between your casting reel and the blank, eliminating "reel twist" during heavy hooksets.
-
Rubberized Cork Wraps: Provides an enhanced, tacky grip that gives you superior control in wet or slimy conditions compared to traditional cork.

Which Lightning Rod is for you?
-
The Accuracy King (6'6" M): The 6'6" Medium is a "target casting" machine. It’s the ideal length for precisely placing spinnerbaits or squarebill crankbaits around laydowns and stumps.
-
The Power Pitcher (6'6" MH): If you fish in tight quarters or from a kayak, this model gives you the heavy-duty backbone of a 7-footer but with a shorter lever for better control.
-
The Big Water Workhorse (7'0" MH): The ultimate "do-it-all" casting rod. Perfect for long-distance casting with Texas rigs, jigs, or larger swimbaits where you need maximum leverage to set the hook.
PRO TIP: The Lightning Rod is famous for its Fast Action. When using the 7'0" Medium-Heavy for plastics, remember that the tip is designed to load quickly. You don't need a massive "pro-bass" swing to set the hook—a quick, firm snap of the wrists is usually all it takes to bury the barb thanks to the 24-ton carbon's recovery speed.
