Gapen Bream Float – The Choice for Sensitive, Deep-Water Rigging

Achieve professional-level precision with the Gapen Bream Float. Designed as the high-performance "big brother" to the pencil float, the Bream series features an elongated, tapered body that provides exceptional stability in the wind while remaining sensitive enough to detect the slightest movement. It is the perfect tool for anglers who need to cast further and fish deeper without sacrificing bite detection.

Product Overview

The Gapen Bream Float is a specialized "waggler" style float that excels in both still and slow-moving water. Its long fiberglass stem and streamlined balsa body allow it to cut through surface tension effortlessly. Equipped with the patented Slip-N-Lock system, these floats can be rigged in seconds for any depth. Whether you are fishing deep for jumbo perch or targeting suspended crappie and bass, the Bream series provides the visual feedback you need to catch more fish.

Available Models

We stock the larger sizes of this series for maximum versatility:

  • 7" Bream Float: A fantastic all-around size for large panfish, trout, and smallmouth bass.

  • 9" Bream Float: The go-to choice for long-distance casting and fishing in deeper water or moderate chop.

Key Features

  • Slip-N-Lock Versatility: Switch from a fixed float to a slip float instantly without cutting your line.

  • Fiberglass Through-Stem: Provides the structural integrity needed for long casts and aggressive hooksets.

  • Sensitive Tapered Design: The slim profile ensures that fish feel minimal resistance when they submerge the float.

  • Premium Balsa Construction: Finished with a high-impact varnish to prevent water absorption and ensure a lifetime of use.

Model Comparison Guide

Model Length Best Application Target Species
Gapen 7" 7 Inches Mid-range casting; great for ponds and lakes. Bream, Crappie, Trout, Bass
Gapen 9" 9 Inches Long-distance casting; deep water or windy days. Jumbo Perch, Walleye, Large Bass

🎣 Pro Tip: Managing Surface Drift

On windy days, your line can "bow" on the surface, pulling your Bream float out of the strike zone. Because the 9" model is so tall, you can use the "Sub-Surface Cast": after your float hits the water, tuck your rod tip under the surface and give your reel two or three fast turns. This "sinks" the line underwater, letting the long stem of the Bream float keep your bait stationary while the wind-driven surface current passes right by.
