💡 Pro Tip: The "Recharge" Trick
Gulp! baits are designed to absorb scent like a sponge. If the bait starts to feel a bit dry or the action slows down, don't throw it away! Simply place it back into a Gulp! Alive! container or a bag with Gulp! attractant for a few minutes. It will "recharge," soaking up the scent liquid to become just as effective as a brand-new worm.
Recommended Hook Sizes for 6" Gulp! Nightcrawlers
To get the most out of your 6" Gulp! Nightcrawler, using the right hook is essential for maintaining a natural presentation and ensuring a solid hookset.
-
For Walleye Rigs: Use a Size 2 or Size 4 Octopus or bait-holder hook. This provides enough gap to clear the body of the worm while remaining stealthy behind a spinner blade.
-
For Bass (Texas Rig): A 2/0 or 3/0 Offset Round Bend hook is the "sweet spot." It allows the worm to sit straight and provides plenty of bite to penetrate the jaw of a largemouth.
-
For Wacky Rigging: Stick with a Size 1 or 1/0 Finesse Wide Gap hook. Hooking the worm right through the middle gives it that irresistible "quiver" on the fall.
-
For Panfish/Trout: If you are targeting jumbo perch or trout, you can trim the worm down and use a Size 6 bait-holder hook to prevent smaller fish from nipping the tail without getting caught.
