Snell Labs Sorting Bait Puck
The Intelligent Live Bait Storage Solution Built for Extreme Anglers
Stop digging through a soggy clump of bedding with frozen, wet fingers just to hook a single wax worm. Designed and manufactured in-house by Snell Labs in Minnesota, the Sorting Bait Puck transforms live bait management on the ice and open water. Instead of acting as a simple plastic tub, this rugged puck features an integrated internal grid system that effortlessly separates your bait from its bedding, allowing you to grab a worm and get back to fishing in seconds.
Built to replace cheap, fragile disposable bait containers, the Sorting Bait Puck is engineered from high-impact PETG material rated for extreme temperatures ranging from -40°F to 140°F. Rigorously field-tested at -20°F in deep winter and 120°F inside hot summer trucks, it resists cracking, warping, and seal failure. Engineered with positive buoyancy, it floats on top of the water if dropped, protecting your live bait investments from accidental bottom-of-the-lake mishaps.

How to Use
-
To Sort: Unscrew the threaded top lid, deposit your wax worms along with their bedding onto the sorting grid, replace the lid securely, and give the puck a light shake for 15 to 20 seconds. Your bait will instantly sit separated on top of the grid, ready to use.
-
To Unsort (Storage): Flip the puck upside down and shake gently for 15 to 20 seconds to drop the bait back into the insulation bedding for long-term storage.
-
To Empty or Clean:
- Original Sorter: Using small hemostats, grip a few of the sorting rows, twist to align the notch and groove and pop the grid out. Watch instructions from manufacturer here.
- Weekender: Simply unscrew the sorting grid to access the lower compartment.
Pro Tip
Keep your Original Sorter in an inside jacket pocket on sub-zero ice days. While the PETG puck easily handles freezing temperatures down to -40°F, keeping your live bait near body heat prevents wax worms from becoming sluggish in extreme cold. When it is time to re-bait, unscrew the lid, pick off a separated worm from the top grid, and seal it back up without ever exposing the rest of your live bait colony to harsh windburn.
